Yep, got a story. I'm seeing Cannonball Adderly after Yusef Lateef joined the band at The Jazz Workshop in SF. Across the street at a club, Sugar Hill, Carmen McRae is appearing. At the conclusion of a tune, a lady seated behind me says "Yeah, Cannon". I didn't have to look. I'd know that voice anywhere. She may have been on a break or something.

I love Etta. Some of her early stuff is pretty commercial, but her blues singing is wonderful.
