Mike Garson - Jazz Hat
Reference Recordings

Such an incredible album and so well recorded.  Just amazing every time I find it amongst my CD's and play it.  Great. He is a hot shot piano maestro that has played with just about everyone under the sun.

I made a double disc "Dan's Picks" from these two Best Ofs.

This disc has 20 tracks:

This two-disc set has 28 tracks on disc one and 19 on disc two:

I like every track on "Best" and all tracks on the first disc of "Wonderland", but not many on it's second disc. As great as "Best" is, one knock against it is that many tracks are not well recorded or mastered. Most duplicate titles between the two releases seem to be better mastered on the Wonderland so in most cases I've used those. But I prefer some duplicate titles of "Best" because I like the performance better. Some shared titles are different recordings. For example, "Seventh Son",  is on both releases, and though very different, both are terrific so I've included both on my compilation discs, one on each.

I think my compilation of these two releases is WAY better than both originals.

BTW, that Freddie Hubbard above ... I usually dislike bass solos followed by drum solos ... usally  ...
but on the Far Away track it was terrific!  :thumb:  Great job Eddie and Joe  :thumb:

From 1966, a great soul-jazz release.
Again, James Spaulding (IMO a great fit with Freddie), Albert Dailey, Bob Cunningham, Otis Appleton, and Ray Barretto (conga man extraordinaire)  :thumb:
