Art Ensemble of Chicago - Nice Guys

One if the best avant-garde ensembles ever.

Even among their all out blowing, they could find a way to swing.

I didn't care too much to the little reggae section on the 1st track, but everything else is great.

Vinyl of course. Those ECM recordings were so good! The vinyl is dead quiet, and the sense of space is nothing short of impressive.

Ella sings the Gershwin Bros w/ Nelson Riddle-  can jazz get any smoother?
This is one of a series, 5 lps I think.  I picked up three and will look for the others. Cover art by Bernard Buffet.

...Julius Watkins...Julius Watkins Sextet Volumes 1&2 ( Blue Note )....simply stellar music from the father of jazz on the French horn...with some great players...including one of my all-time faves Oscar Pettiford ( truth be known, I got the cd because Oscar was on it, which for me is SOP...and was then blown away by Mr Watkins...)

...highly recommended...Linda Delia, a cut from this collection is definitely on my desert isle list...

Cheers
