For amplification I use a CJ Premiere 3 pre-amp ( Bill Thalman mods ) driving a Bob Latino ST70. The Latino uses NOS Mullard drivers and Genalex re-issue KT 88s. Plays louder with a nicer sense of ease than one would expect for 40 watts. I feel this is mostly due to the over-all superb and well balanced design of the SongTower. Main digital source is a Pioneer Elite PD93. Yes it may be a relic of sorts, but it has more of an analog signature with real bass "weight" than a dozen or so modern CDPs and DACs I've brought through here over the years. I might quickly add that none of the modern candidates had a list price over $1500 however. To complete the picture, room size is 14 X 16 X 9 and I listen to mostly jazz, blues and folk. Analog sources are all Nottingham and all key ICs are Morrow MA 2. Clear Day 3X Shotgun speaker cables complete the package.

My SongTowers (with OW2 tweeters) are also on order, but I'll be using:

AVA Insight SL preamp;
AVA Insight 440 power amp (or AVA Super 70i tube power amp);
AVA Insight DAC;
Marantz CD5001 (transport); and an
AR EB-101 turntable.

I compared the SongTowers to my Salk HT1's.  When doing that I tried them with my Fisher 500C tube receiver.  It has 30 watt amps.  The Fisher did a fine job with the SongTowers.  I played them in a medium sized room loud.

Personally, I would wait before doing any upgrading.  If you upgrade multiple items at once, you will have no idea which contributed to the increased performance.  By upgrading one component of the system at a time, you will know exactly what kind of difference it makes.  Also, you may find that the SongTowers perform so well, you may not need to upgrade and can save yourself some $'s.

I wouldn't do a thing until you've had the SongTowers in the system for a few weeks.  You may find there is no need to change anything.

I have had them for a couple of months , just looking for a little warmer sound. I played with a Theta Pearl and paradisea dac for the past week and enjoyed the depth, detail and sound stage much better

Sorry.  I sometimes forget to connect screen names with real ones.  My misunderstanding.
