OFC 16ga polyethylene wire and good soldier
« on: 1 Nov 2020, 06:40 pm »
Hello, New guy here.

I just completed Danny's Klipsch RP600M upgrade kit.  Easy peasy!
I've done plenty of soldering before.  But using the wire and soldier in this kit seemed to be a lot easier than what I am used to.  I usually use the stranded whatever wire that I get at Walmart and whatever soldier.

q1: Where can a guy buy this flexible OFC 16ga non-stranded polyethylene wire and "good" soldier?
All searches seem to return stranded wire.

q2: Is there something different about this soldier?  If so, where can I buy it?

You can order the wire directly from Danny. I use Cardas quadeutetic solder. You can order this online. I get mine from Douglas Connections. They are in Austin, TX

I’ve been using Douglass Connection for years, last cables I made were from him.  I use KappZapp 7 solder.  Danny is probably best source for wire!

Should  solder matter? Its the conductors contacting  eachother  that matters solder just holds it in place.
