Hi everyone,
I am looking a building a set of speakers for a small room (approx 12x15) that will be primarily used for 2 channel listening. But I may want to expand the system in the future for HT usage. I have been reading quite a bit online and "think" that these may be good choices. I have minimal DIY experience - primarily in building a tube subwoofer using an Ascendant Audio Avalanche 18" driver paired with a 370-watt Rhythmic plate amp in a 28" sonotube that is about 7 feet tall. Needless to say, that lacked WAF and am looking to redeem myself in that regard.

Another option is to build the X-CS Encore. They’ll need stands but if you want a home theater you can also get a third one for center and have the front three matching.

If you can build a sonosub, you can build the GR Research DIY kits :)
The X-MTM has a relatively large foot-print and will probably fall right
into the wife disapproval catagory. Instead of the X-LS, please consider
the 'X-SLS'. It's a transmission line cabinet version of the X-LS, that plays
lower and has better WAF than a X-MTM.
If you must build bookshelf speakers and will probably expand to multiples
for HT use in the future, then the X-CS are a really nice choice.
Get the Encore tweeter, regardless of the X series you choose.

Perhaps nitpicking here, but the X-SLS is a ported bass reflex design, not a transmission line. It's a small-ish tower that slightly expands the bass capability of the X-LS. Probably has more to do with what you like to look at when implemented in a multi channel setup where sub(s) are employed.
