Are you hungry? Have a beer!!
« on: 3 Sep 2016, 10:25 pm »
Just had a few nice brews this afternoon as a reward for washing and waxing my car.

First up, a really nice double IPA in a can:

Space Juice from Long Trail Brewing Co. out of Vermont - rated a 92 (outstanding) on Beer Advocate

Next up, was Ruination 2.0 (another double IPA) from Stone Brewery in California - rated a 94 (outstanding) on Beer Advocate

The last selection of the afternoon was a "local" beer from NH:

Stoneface IPA from Stoneface Brewery - rated a 93 on Beer Advocate

What are you drinking this Labor Day weekend?

Well, I just came across your post.

Don't shoot me, I'm drinking my absolute favorite Cider.

Woodchuck Granny Smith Hard Cider. I live in Seattle WA., the apples are from Yakima Valley in WA. and the cider is made in Vermont.

I have pretty much tried them all and this is by far my favorite cider, very crisp and not so sweet as so many others.

Cheers,

Greg

Yesterday was Dogfish Head Seaquench Ale, brewed with limes and lime peal, great summertime light and citrusy beverage, not my usual choice, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.  As it's only 8:30 here and I don't have any Dogfish Head Breakfast Ale, I'll pick an IPA somewhat later in the day.

Here's my new favorite IPA which comes in a six pak instead of the usual four pak making it a great buy. Lagunitas Maximus IPA 8.2%.

I wish I could enjoy some of the brews mentioned here.
I have a rather pedestrian palate when it comes to beer.
Actually stopped drinking beer for medical reasons. I'll have one occasionally though while sitting around the fire pit.

So have I.  That, and beers like those helped balloon me up to 250+ pounds.  They taste great, but there are probably 200+ calories per each of those beers. Beers like these are pure sugar to me and caused me to become a near type 2 diabetic.  I enjoy looking at the pictures, but can't have any.  I've had less than a single handful over the last three years.

200 calories is quite optimistic for some of those 22 ounce doubles and imperials being discussed...    When I am dieting it is the thing I miss most, but they put the weight and bloat on me like nothing else.

Pam and her 29 year old son stopped by on Saturday, since he doesn't drink his friends suggested bringing Oculto, their favorite beer. I couldn't finish one bottle, two sips and I was done.

This is the worst beer I have tried to drink in years, if not forever. An online review describes it best: "It is a mixture of some strange lemon-pledge type cleaning solution and sticky, flat, old, expired 7-Up or Sprite".

Rated a generous 64 on Beer Advocate.

Double points if anybody can name the brewmaster of these fine beers...... HINT: He's bold.
So far, I've only had the "Juicy Banger".
At 32 ounces each, these are a planned event. Nothing like popping open my typical 12 ounce daily swill of Bud Select.
