Love them Cards!  Game 6 is an instant classic.  This team was given a .002% chance of making the playoffs, much less this.  Congrats to the Cards and MVP David Freese, a hometown boy.

Rangers were a classy team.  I tip my hat.

Great series. One fan is really happy though. Placed a $250 bet when the cards where 10 games back in August at 1000 to 1.  After last night's winner, that bet is worth $250,000.

I think he's buying...

He also placed a bet that they'd win the NL Championship. That one netted him another $150k.  :duh:

Nope, it was September 12th at the MGM Grand in Vegas. He's a friend of my boss and I have pictures of the two claim checks. $250 straight bet for the cards to win the NLCS @ 500-1 odds. It paid $125k. Second bet was $250 for the Cards to win the WS at 999 -1 odds. It paid $250k.

An amazing World Series!    Downtown was nuts Thursday & Friday night, looked like scenes during Mardi Gras in NOLA.

I went to Game 6 w/a date who is a huge Cards fan.  she cried twice during that game!   such a nail biter.

Glad to get back to a regular schedule.  I have no voice and no $

A love hate relationship for some but certainly got the job done.

So that's what the news conference was this morning  :duh:

Hadn't heard about it yet. The search for a new skipper should be interesting.

Jose Oquendo should be the new manager IMHO.  8)

Has Oquendo played every other management position at least once?

Actually, back in the 80's Jose pitched in a marathon game against the Braves when Whitey ran out of pitchers in like the 17th inning. He pitched three scoreless innings. In 88 he caught too. I haven't been able to find out which game.

Gotta love Whitey ball  :thumb: I sure hope the organization picks a manager that has a coaching philosophy like Whitey where we 'manufacture' runs (read=steal lots of bases). The Cards were TONS of fun to watch back then, even when we lost. Get a guy on first, next thing you know he was on third and Whitey was squeezing him home. Heck, stealing home fairly common back then. Now THAT'S baseball. We forced more errors back then than you could ever imagine.  8)

I miss Whitey ball.  Every man on base was a potential threat.  Unfortunately, the cardinals now rely more on power than speed, and it would take a few seasons to mold the team to play Whitey ball.  At least the new stadium is right for that style of play, so there's hope.
