Keith Jarrett ~ Treasure Island

While talking to Jerome (jsaliga) this evening we ended up talking a little about Kerith Jarrett. This prompted me to play one of my K.Jarrett LP's.

Thanks to Rockadenny for turning me on to Art Pepper, and specifically this album.  I'm only into the second of four discs and it's absolutely incredible (on Redbook CD no less!--so much for my vinyl/SACD snobbism).  I'm new to Art Pepper's music, but he's quickly becoming a favorite, and I'm very impressed with Laurie Pepper, Art's widow, that keeps the music flowing.  Gotta get more of his stuff.

Art Pepper: alto saxophone; Milcho Leviev: piano; Tony Dumas: bass; Carl Burnett: drums.

Free For All- Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers (Blue Note).  Blakey had many combinations of "Messengers" over the years but this album is hands down a SMOKER!  As highly recommended as I can make it.  I think it's his best.

And here's one for you.  Check out Man From Two Worlds on Impulse. "Lady Gabor" composed by Gabor Szabo with Charles Lloyd on flute and Szabo on guitar in particular.  It's kind of a gypsy waltz thing.  Szabo is Hungarian.  Good listening.

That sounds like one that I need! I have a couple of Szabo albums that I acquired recently and like them a lot. I don't know how his music eluded me all these years, but that can be a good thing sometimes. Thanks for the recommendation Jim!!
