I used to have it on vinyl. I recall when that came out, my freinds and I spun that disc nightly for weeks. We wore that sucker out!
I need to get that on CD (table and vinyl long gone  ).
Thanks for the reminder bud!  :thumb:

Right now a pristine copy of Brubeck in Amsterdam is playing.  This was recorded live at the Concertgebouw way back in the 1962.

Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Gene Wright, and Joe Morello.

It sounds live!  Strange that it has taken 50 years to come up with playback equipment that can get what the recording engineer and equipment put on it correctly.

Using my new moving coil phono preamp and a new set of Philharmonic Three speakers along with my best preamp and power amp.

Live is very good musically here right now.

Read somewhere that Yusef Lateef passed away.  He had a long and very productive life and played two reed instruments and flute.  Cannonball Adderly had multiple live date releases with brother, Nat, and Yusef on the Riverside label from the day.  Still available, I think.  I was in the third or so row one night at The Jazz Workshop in San Francisco and two soul brothers sitting next to me were adamantly dismayed about Yusef wearing white sox. Now, these were floppy hat, silk shirt wearing brothers and I offered, "Maybe he's putting YOU on".  Not another word was murmured.  This group was recorded multiple times and had Joe Zawinul on keyboards.

Brother Jim - you've inspired my next two selections:

Would love to get my hands on "Live at Pep's" CD, but way too darned expensive for me these days.  :o
Anyone out there have it for possible trade?

After a full day of blues music, I am ending it with this ECM gem, Jan Garbarek/Bobo Stenson, "Witchi-Tai-To"

I'm rather fond of that one, Danny.  In particular the 20 minute Desireless for Stenson's passionate and involving playing and the bassist and drummer are amazing players.  Garbarek just tries too hard or something.

I listened to this last night -

Ursula Dudziak - Future Talk

Sometimes, for some unknown reason, I will not play an album for a long time. Then when I do, I wonder why it's been so long.

This is a real lesser known minor classic of the first fusion era. Not only does Ursula have a great voice, but she has a great feel for fusion. Very inventive, but still pretty accessible. There are no words in any of the songs, just great vocalizations and scat.

She is joined by her (then) husband on violin, Michael Urbaniak. Who is also one of the unheralded jazz musicians of the last few decades. A great Polish sax player, Zbignew Namyslovsky, US drummer, Buddy William, Kenny Kirkland on keys, John Abercrombie on guitar, Marcus Miller on bass, and others. It is an all star lineup.
