Wish it could have been last weekend, but the car shopping had to take precedent.

I did buy a car based on my test drives:

Since this is looking to be a lightly attended gathering, maybe I will host another one in the Fall.

Plus it is looking like we will have a few DAC options besides my Modwright Transporter...an Antelope Zodiac + and a Bryston BDP-1/BDA-1 combo.

I want to thank Greg, Doug, Evan, David, and Ian for coming over and making it a cool afternoon of audio and just hanging out.

We listened to some good tunes, had some good conversations, and drank some excellent beer, we were able to hear a couple of different digital front ends against my Modwright Transporter (unfortunately, these went into the system after Doug and Evan left):

Bryston BDP-1 player + BDA-1 DAC
Bryston BDP-1 player + Antelope Zodiac Gold

I started a thread over in the Bryston Circle on this topic:  http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=97099.new;topicseen#new

Short version...I need a new digital front end!!

Not sure when that will happen, but it is definitely in my future.

Glad to hear it was a good time.  Wish I could've been there.   :(

I can help you spend some money on a new source.   :green:

We should be the ones thanking you George! It's hard to beat an afternoon of listening to good music being played on a truly excellent system, interesting conversations with a bunch of nice guys, and great beer.

Thanks for hosting the GTG!

Thanks, George for the great time.  Your system was sounding better than ever as is!  I'm sorry I was not able to stay long enough to hear the front end comparison.  Sounds like I really missed something.

What was the consensus on the Zodiac Gold DAC?

Thanks,

Randy

What was the consensus on the Zodiac Gold DAC?

Thanks,

Randy

Need to spend more time with it and use the USB input before really saying how it compares to the BDA-1.  By all accounts, the USB input is supposed to be the best in terms of sound quality on the Zodiac Gold.  Unfortunately, I didn't have a USB source, so we had to use the AES input which had zero hours on it.

So, I think it is safe to say that we didn't hear everything that the Zodiac Gold is capable of.   I hope to rectify this in the near future.

I have been so out-of-the-loop that I didn't even see this post, but I have to say, George, that I love your car and look forward to racing you.   :D

I would also like to host a get-together in Newton if anyone is interested.
