Our society had a great event yesterday that combined a demonstration of the Amarra music player with Jim's Soundscape 10's.

I can honestly say that the SS10's were the rave of the show. Our members found them sonically superb, and a real value at $10K. (See the rave at the link.)

And working with Jim was a treat.

It's no surprise to me that the brand has such a loyal following....

I dunno.  You can't argue with what people say they heard.  But the San Fran Area dudes seem very into peripherals. The impedance profile of the SS10 is about as benign as it gets, and I can't imagine that biamping would make any difference.   And the highs have a 3-way switch, with the first setting being elevated about 2 dB.  So I'm pretty sure there were no rolled off highs.  Just a personal opinion.

I agree.  They were probably making more than one change at a time and guessing which change made the difference that they were hearing.  The key for me is that they finally got it kicking ass!

If I do remember correctly, this was not a "production pair" of speakers.  The newer version has a slightly higher driver sensitivity, which pulls the soundstage forward more and snaps everything into place.  Someone can correct me if I am wrong.
