FS: Sumo Aurora Tuner
« on: 28 May 2009, 09:20 pm »
I am selling my Sumo Aurora tuner.  I bought this one off of fellow AC'er Doug S a couple years back and have used it occasionally since.

Cosmetically, this tuner isn't pristine, its got a lot of scratches and scuffs on the top and sides of the case.  The tuner comes with rack mount ears and was probably rackmounted at one time.  However, the faceplate is pretty unblemished.

The tuner is quite strong and pulls in the fringe stations pretty well.  It has memory presets which are nice, but get lost if the tuner is unplugged.  I haven't opened it up to see if there are batteries that need replacing for holding the presets.

I'd post some more pictures if I could.  There are pictures of the Sumo Aurora to see what it looks like on the net which I found easily by using our friend google.  I won't link them here as I don't want to give the impression this is my unit's picture.

I don't listen to the radio much and when I do I usually use the built-in HD tuner in my Onkyo receiver, so this is superfulous to my needs.

$175+shipping. $100 +S

Further notes.  This is the most sensitive tuner I've owned and I've owned a few.  It pulls in analog stations better than my receiver or any other tuner I've used.  It also is probably the best sounding analog tuner I've owned.  It easily betters the SQ of the onkyo receiver's HD tuner, but I don't listen to radio enough to care.  When we listen to radio it is wholly background.

thanks doug.  I did find it to be exceptional sounding, but alas, like many others, I don't listen to the radio much if at all anymore.

if it's gone, someone got a steal!

this one is nicer cosmetically, but $100 for one in good shape w/a good face is still a steal, imo:

hi mike, you should like this one.  at the price you got it for, it would be worthwhile inwesting in a proper alignment.  but, you could listen first, and see (hear) what you think.  it should sound superb; at least as good as the charlie, which is also a superb sounding tuna.  this one will have better reception abilities than the charlie, imo...

download owners manual here (excellent distortion-separation-s/n specs):

enjoy!
