Although I too decry the cost of HDTracks offerings, they are actually cheaper than some of the other big players (e.g., Naim, Linn). I suspect that their pricing is in large part a reflection of what they pay to the labels for rights to the recordings they offer. And that (as usual) goes back to the overall cluelessness of the majors in today's changing world.
