Tilting a speaker back to more physically align the drivers doesn't always make an improvement. It can, but it depends on a number of factors.
Having the drivers physically aligned verses having an offset from a typical baffle mounting requires a different type of crossover. The crossover will shift phase to bring the alignment back in time acoustically. So then tilting it might make it off. You'd have to measure them to see where the center axis is for being in absolute acoustic phase.
