Title: Nuprime IDA 8 and Mac mini Problem
Post by: VitorS on 30 Oct 2020, 11:04 am
Hi, I bought a Nuprime IDA 8 but I can't get it to be recognized by my Mac mini with Audirvana software, I always used this Mac with several Dacs and it always worked perfectly.
I've also tried it with my iMac and it doesn't recognize it either.
With my son's windows pc and after installing the driver it works perfectly.
What will be the problem?
My Mac mini is only for music and I don't want to exchange it for a windows pc.
Can advise me what to do?

Have you checked to see that the IDA8 is selected in Audio Midi and the Speaker section of System Preferences and that the mute boxes aren't checked?

Yes, simply the Mac (the mini and the iMac with diferente OS) does not detect the Ida8 but on windows it works perfectly
When I plug and unplug the USB cable, the display on the Ida8 shows the sampling rate.

+1 on the above suggestions.

If without the Audirvana software, just using the Mac directly (ie the standard OSX USB driver), that should work.
May be you can find some tips here: https://community.audirvana.com/c/audio-setup/dac/26

To run the NuPrime IDA-8 on Mac– PCM:
1. Power on NuPrimeIDA-8, select USB input. The device will enumerate as  aUSB Audio device
on your Mac.
2. In Audio Midi Setup, select the “NuPrime IDA-8” device as your default Input and Output
device.
3. The sample rate of the device can be selected using the dropdown menu.
4. The audio is also output over SPDIF.

To run the NuPrime IDA-8 on Mac– DSD:
1. Install playback software on MAC.
Ex: Audirvana 15 days free http://audirvana.com/site/?page_id=112
2. In Preferences Setup, Audio System select the “NuPrime IDA-8” as your Default Device.
3. The Native DSD Capability select the “DSD Over PCM standard 1.0”
4. SPDIF output is not working on DSD playback.

Thanks for the answers, the problem is that in the Audio Midi and the Speaker section of System Preferences, Ida8 does not appear, and I am unable to select it.
it's like there's nothing connected to the usb, but the strange thing is that when I plug and unplug the USB cable, the Ida8 display the sampling rate for a few seconds, but nothing happens on the Mac.
My other Dacs appear on Mac without problems.
I've tested it on my iMac with another OS and it doesn't recognize it either, strange is that it is identified in windows and works perfectly.
I've tested everything and I can't get Ida8 to be recognized by Mac mini and iMac.
I think if it was a problem in Ida8 it wouldn't work on windows either, but it works perfectly
