Kraut?  It seems that this forum has no tolerance for certain derogatory terms and overlooks others.

Does ELOY count?  I'm a big fan of their 70's stuff.

when many of these bands where unknown to most of the world and while "Dark Side of the Moon" was a Hit,  ELOYS "Wings Of Vision" was one of the No.1 songs in psychedelic German rock college radio, even out selling Floyd's "Dark Side" in Germany.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGqJBeMAR9o

AMON DUUL 2

But the band of all bands IMHO was AMON DUUL 11
They drew upon Fritz Lang, Kubrick, Da Vinci and Dali with amazing grace, their last hit song was only about five years ago, they still do grateful dead like tours as of last year 2018
These are artist's artist. An opera singer, a violinist, three organist, two percussionist, banjo, saxophones, and two guitars and moogs every where next to mellotrons.
with titles like-
"Viva Le Trance"
"First National Church Of Marilyn Monroe"
"Wolf City"
"Harvest in Babylon"
these were poets, I almost never saw a band put so much melody and thunder in a single song as "Metropolis"

Always promoting, monogamy, patience, the art of being a real friend, sacred respect for women,
and in the middle of a explosion of Chain saw electronic rock theme,,,, go so melodic it almost was a mirical,
their art was at once feminine, mystic and Shakespeare.
And in songs like "Loosey Girls" the singer would cry for the lonely lost women of the world.
"Morning Excuse" is about irresponsible women, I have never heard a "Sound" like this song makes.

A cd album I enjoy listening to from 1993, The Uncertainty Principle by Ian Boddy. Described as progressive electronic/progressive rock. The music is sort of ambient creating a relaxing mood, but there is some creative moments that IMO are brilliant, which is why I like listening to it, a mix somewhat like Michael Garrison & Tangerine Dream.

New exciting version of Phaedra from the German masters:

Obviously this pristine recording was not performed at the Virgin1974 low budget.

I use to have a box set on vinyl of Tangerine Dream's early years which I gave to a friend. I was not keen on their early work but there was some good stuff.

I have quite a few Tangerine Dream albums, the ones I like are the ones I play.

Tangerine Dream Live in Lisbon as well as London and I think Berlin is sort of a montage of all there work in shorter clips you know just the theme of the songs. Lisbon is the best recording of the three and is the one I listen to which is about a 3 hour concert dvd.

I at one time had many German import albums of the bands you speak of in this thread.  Now that I have my streaming service through my high end system, I am able to find some fun stuff.  Cluster and Eno, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Can, Neu, Van de Graaf Generator.  It brings back memories and shows that these bands helped start it all.  Well.. a few others as well.  I played Kraftwerk to a 21 yr old the other day who likes electronic music and he couldn't believe it when I told him it was recorded.

From Tangerine Dream April 2020 Newsletter:
Dear TD friend,
We're all about positivity at this trying time - music definitely makes us feel better (if we like what we hear!:) and we would be happy to contribute to this positive sense of life with our new Eastgate release:

KLANGTRAUBE - Edgar Froese Memorial Day 2019 (EFMD)
A live album of the 4th EFMD concert with the participation of well-known musicians of the electronic music genre like Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Thorsten Quaeschning, Hoshiko Yamane and Paul Frick will be released on 30th April 2020. The event - a mixture of concert, reading and art exhibition - took place on 26th January 2019 at the historically significant Ballhaus Rixdorf in Berlin. Many TD friends from all over Europe joined this special evening commemorating Edgar Froese's life work. Please get more details on the album under the following link.

A sad day to German music.
I very sorry to infom Florian Schneider Esleben from Kraftwerk passed away at age 73 of cancer. The information was confirmed to The Guardian by one of the musical collaborators who reported Florian died a week ago and was buried only in the presence of family and close friends. Florian left Kraftwerk in 2008.
