Hi James,

Do you know if I can convert the SP1.7 (black) to silver face plate?  Do I have to send my unit in or can this be done at home and How much would it cost?

Thanks for your time.

Prices may have changed, but it cost me $275 CDN to go from silver to black when I upgraded my SP-1 to an SP-1.7.

Hi there,

I was wondering if the face plate conversion can be done without sending the unit in.  I can't be without preamp for a week.  You know what I mean.

I had to send my SP-1 in for the upgrade anyways so I don't know whether you will have to send in your SP-1.7. You'll have to wait for James for that one.

Hi Levi,

You could put the faceplate and knobs on yourself but it is not an easy job  aligning all the buttons through the appropriate holes.

Hi James,

I checked closely and it looks like the dip switches are going to stay black when I do the face plate conversion my self.  Do you know how much it would cost to do such a conversion?  What are the tools needed?  You can PM me or make it public here.

Thanks James.

Hi Levi,

The SP1.7 faceplate is $200 US and the Knobs are $100.

James,

From your earlier reply, it appears that changing the faceplate and knobs can be done ourselves (i.e. don't have to send the SP1.7 to Bryston).  Aligning the switches may be more difficult but doable.  Am I interpreting this right?  What about the question of changing the black dip switches to silver?  How can we do this?

Forget the dip switches - that is a very percise job - not recommended to do at home.
