I am on my way at getting the Otica's built. I hope they will be in my system by the end of July.

Good for you. That would be my next speak, currently enjoying X-LS Encore with DB sub. It will have to wait a bit: there is a 25% counter tariff on anything imported from the US in Canada. I learned it the hard way: The DT sub I bought in March costed me an extra 25%.

What kind of finish are you going for?

Thanks. I am upgrading from XLS Encores built in '23. I had planned to build the NX Studios, and had the opportunity to hear the Studios as well as the Oticas' bigger brother at Danny's last summer. That was the determining factor to go with them. I am sure along the way there will be  questions that occur.

You’re going to love those speakers. Nothing under six figures beats them.

A couple questions: Regarding the crossover, would there be serious downsides to using spade connectors on the driver wires? For me, spade connectors would allow easy removal of the crossover board.

Also is there any argument for putting No Rez on the three ported boards that act as braces for the outer and inner walls?

Thanks

If you use decent quality binding posts don’t see it would affect the sound quality that much. My crossover board is all hardwired, but don’t plan on needing to disconnect the crossover from the speakers. Though I’ve thought of splitting the input to the crossover for experimenting with multi amplification. If I did,  Id use either GR tube connectors or high quality binding posts.

Never seen anyone put no rez on the braces, as long as it’s all glued up solid, don’t think it would improve anything.
