2-ch equivalent to 2014 9B SST2 5-ch?
« on: 19 Mar 2023, 07:35 pm »
I heard and loved what I believe was the 9B SST-2 at 2014 RMAF (native multi-ch classical DSD program > five Magneplanars.)  What's the 2-ch equivalent 100W+?  I presume 2.5B-2.

Have some preferred the earlier -2/Squared amps over the current -3/Cubed series and if so, why?

Thanks in advance.

Hi James

The 9B was more like the 3B than the 2.5B

Thank you.

A big difference between the 2.5 and 3 series is that the latter is dual mono while the former is not, correct?

Respectively, do the 2.5B SST, 2.5B Cubed, 3B-SST and 3B Cubed have MOSFET or bipolar output transistors?

Hi James

All the Bryston stereo amps have dual power supplies.
Bipolar in all our amplifiers.

Thank you!

Was this the Bryston amp @ 2014 RMAF?  Native classic 5.0 DSD program > exaSound e28 DSD multi-ch DAC > Bryston 9B-SST2 5-ch > 5x Mageplanar 1.7

Within the smallest amp's power envelope: do the 2.5B SST2, 3B SST2 and 9B-SST2 all sound about the same?

Yeah, that was a dumb Q!  In '14 or '15 the 9B was SST2?

That show display reminded me of the all-time best Kimber Isomike display w/Ray's proprietary 4.0 DSD recordings (Isomike requires huge venues, 6' tall heart-shaped baffle for 4.0 mic array) in a huge suite, four huge Pass Class A > dual 8' tall Sound Lab per each corner.  Kimber's room was better for about 20x higher cost.
