Beautiful.  They look like $7500 Paradigm Persona B speakers!

Another vote for NX Studio's and I don't even have a sub.

I do have the upgraded crossover.

They sound killer and work for any kind of music.

Have fun.

What were the upgrades on the Studios versus what you get now?

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob,
Direct from GR-Research had the upgrade of 16ga. foil inductors. If I remember right, supply chain continuity forced dropping that upgrade but you can easily sort those out afterwards. All the options still have Sonicaps and a Miflex bypass for the tweeter. How far down the rabbit hole you go after that is up to you.

The cost of copper really pushed the price up of foil inductors over the last year and a half, and restocking would have forced us to raise the price of the upgrade even further. And we felt it was better to drop this upgrade for the time being, especially since it had already doubled from $125 to $250, and we would have to raise the price to $300+ to match the current prices.

We still plan to keep the foil upgrade for Oticas & Extremes, since the values are smaller than on the Studios.

What niltworld and Hobbsmeerkat said is true.

I still think it is worthwhile to get the foil inductors if you can afford it.

I’ve just completed a pair on NX studios to replace my 37 year old JBL L

96’s. I thought I had great speakers. Wrong. The NX studios are on a whole other level. Blew me away. I realized I used to listen to speakers. Now I hear the music. Incredible detail and realism.  They are in a large room with minimal treatment and a pair of 12” sealed subs.
 Thanks Danny
Beautiful job!

I know this has varied over the years, did your cross over have any upgrades?

Really looks great BTW.

Bob

There isn’t a choice to upgrade anything but these came with the foil inductors.
Thank you for the compliment. The blue is monocote for rc plane covering.

Monokote, now why didn't I think of that!  I can do a fair job of covering planes, speakers should be fairly straightforward as long as I can get the surface prep.  Did you iron down the flat or just around the corners and then shrink smooth?
