That is terrible news. I had every issue of Listener. Kept them for years and eventually donated them to my local library, along with all of my other audio magazines. He was one of my favorite writers and I loved his sense of humor. He will be missed.

Such a sad loss. I truly loved Listener Magazine and Arts' reviews. Deepest condolences to his wife and daughter.

Say it ain't so. A wonderful Man. Art was always fair when reviewing our rooms at the shows. Got to know Him a bit better as time went on. Rest in Fraternal peace my friend.
You will be sorely missed by all. Condolences to Arts Family. Just too young to go. This hurts.

Awful news.  Loved Art's writing style, still have every copy of Listener mag.

I loved how he would put a picture of a bunny in reply to angry letter writers.

Rest in Peace, Art

Terrible. His was the first column I would read every month.
I love how he fiddled with stuff, making a turntable base for his 301,
reworking his Linn, writing about the new AND old.
Plus he liked XTC and some of the same music I did (although his
tastes were far more broad than mine.

Sorely missed.

Hey!

Although, I have not been a subscriber of Stereophile for many years now. I always enjoy reading his column, even to these days when I go on line to Stereophile's web site I always looking forward to read his column, especially while I'm listening to music through my system. Like Art, I also like vinyls, tube equipments, vintage stuffs and a bit of DIYer. I will miss reading his column for sure.

He was a bright light in our sometimes oh-so-stuffy hobby. He'll be sorely missed.

I loved his writing, even if I am not into vinyl.  He is the only writer I know of who claimed to like Propellerheads, a fave of mine.  It sucks getting old.

Long live Art.  I am sad to hear of his passing.  A great great loss for all those of us who are old enough to remember the Listener magazine and everything else from the era.
