Tube tester in Denver? - prefer north
« on: 5 Sep 2008, 11:47 pm »
Hi,  I have probably a dozen tubes I would like to get tested.  Is there someone who has  a calibrated tester or knows someone who has one who could test these for a reasonable fee?

I'm near Boulder, so north would be most convenient.

Thanks, Jerry

Jerry,

I have an old Heathkit tester but it's the bad/maybe/good type, really only useful for finding gross problems. Don't know if that would be of any help but you're welcome to bring them by if you like. The other part, which almost certainly won't help is that I'm very south compared to you. I am about 8 miles north of Elizabeth but I thought I'd offer since no one else has responded.

Thanks Mike,

If I can make it next weekend, I may just bring them along.

That would be fine in both regards. Only takes a few minutes to shuffle them through the tester. What type are they? It's a old tester and while I have updated charts for it I'm sure there are some I don't have info for though I haven't run into any yet.

You might call the guys at JB Saunders in Boulder and ask if they have one, or know someone who does.  While there are several HiFi companies in the area, few make tube gear.  The one that comes to mind is Al with Red Rock audio.  I assume he has one, and maybe he'd do some testing for a fee.
