Audio shops in Denver
« on: 4 Aug 2008, 03:14 am »
Howdy,
I'm helping my son move from Pittsburgh to Denver and am in town from Sunday Aug 3rd through the 8th. I would really like to visit some audio shops in the area and any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks,

RJ

Cherry Creek Audio (in cherry creek) has the new Krell Evolution gear, and a lot of other very good brands.  They are worth checking out, and were pretty flexible with letting me demo stuff last time I was there.

Audio Federation in Boulder -- by appointment only, and ultra high-end, but worth the trip just to hear some amazing sound.

Mike and Neli are two of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet.

Gold Sound is a favorite of mine:

4285 South Broadway
Englewood, Colorado 80110
303-789-5310

They carry a lot of different lines in all price ranges.  I particularly like Quicksilver Audio tube amps, a pretty full line of Quad gear, Rogue Audio tube amps, Kimber cables, Marantz and NAD, Rogue, etc.  It's way down on South Broadway, but well worth the trip.

Folks, I am visiting Denver next week for business - the listing of dealers is certainly relevant (and I've done business with one of them - hi Mike!) but is there anything audio or live-music related happening then that an audiophile should experience in the fair city while there?

I do not know if you will be here on Saturday 01/24, but if you are, Umphrey's McGee will be at the Fillmore.

If I have my speakers back up and running, you are welcome to come by and give my system a listen.  Plus I'll buy you a scotch at THE best scotch bar in the country (Pints).  I work from home so my time is pretty flexible.

Carefull... when we were at mgaulsha's place last Fall, he gave a few of us whiplash by swapping from Mahler (I think) to Fiddy Cent!

Heck, I've been here over a year and a half now and only made it to two shops so far... and they were probably about as far apart as you can get (tweekgeek in Arvada and colosoundesign in Elizabeth)!  Guess I should get around to at least seeing what the others carry...

Enjoy the trip, Delacroix!

Mahler to Fiddy isn't as bad as Bach to Nine Inch Nails :)  What can I say, I mainly listen to classical and rap, you should see the looks I get when checking out at record stores :-O

Mainly rap and classical, eh?  Then I hope you have a copy of The Rapsody Overture: http://www.amazon.com/Overture-Rapsody/dp/B000007WPB

I won't claim to be a big "shop" but you are all welcome to stop by and hear anything you would like including our Rapide speakers.

Can't promise the scotch though, so probably second on the list

Pints rocks, so Tysons offer is a hard one to pass up!

Thanks all -- very helpful, and Pints for Scotch sounds great Greg! Not here for the Saturday night gig, am out of here on Friday for a run to Boulder then back to Austin - it's a bit more hectic than I imagined so I'll not likely make it to a dealer but I'll PM  for details for those offering local 'insights'.

Thanks again
