A few pictures of my setup below.

Source: HTPC Win7/Audiophilleo2 + PurePower/JPLAY 5.1 via JRiver MC19/NuForce DAC-9
Poweramp: Belles SA-30
Speakers: Auto-tech THE MUMMY MkII
Interconnects: NuForce IC700
Speaker cables: 1.5mm Mundorf Silver/gold
Power cables: DIY Gauge 16 solid-core copper cables(twisted; earth wire twisted in opposite direction)

(a little info on the speakers)
The Polish Auto-tech speakers are brand new as they entered my setup 3 weeks ago. The cabinets, consisting of two halfs screwed and glued together, are made of fiberglass and are heavily damped. The finish is top notch; they're built like tanks and the gelcoat is beautifully handpolished. The 12" bass driver is from Beyma(it covers up to 1.5kHz, which effectively makes it a midrange driver as well..), and the compression driver behind the "oblate spheroids" waveguide is from BMS. Crossover components are from Jantzen. Sensitivity is ~94dB.

Best,
M

Nice and simple. Now just replace htpc with mac mini, and you have a briliant system.

Thanks.

A Mac Mini would certainly be an aesthetically pleasing addition, though would render my JRiver MC17 player obsolete being that it's not Mac compatible; I'm using MC17 for both music and film(mainly Blu-ray) playback, indeed very successfully so, why I'd not be without it.

However, from a visual standpoint a (black) Mac Mini is the perfect complementation (as presented through your very fine setup above, in silver) to my nuForce poweramp and DAC, and with a suitable music-only software player -- like, say, Stephen F. Booth's Decibel -- would likely be very satisfying, audibly speaking, as well.

So my setup with a NuForce product is a bit unorthodox ... it's a computer desk setup with the following:
NuForce Icon-2 desktop amp / headphone amp
Paradigm Atom v.5 speakers
Infinity PS28 subwoofer
Sennheiser HD 600 headphones
Macintosh computer (connected to a NAS media storage device) via iTunes

This is a great near-field setup, and, yes, the subwoofer does make a marked difference. The Paradigms would probably have more low and low-mid with a more powerful amp, but the NuForce does a very admirable job with the mid, mid-high, and treble ends of the spectrum. A reasonably good subwoofer in this system makes up the difference.

And although the HD600s are a classic set of cans, their impedence is pretty high for the headphone amp portion of the NuForce.

But this system is still great for close listening while working.

After eliminating problematic bass, improving room response and getting desirable RT60 a listening room looks like this (diy variant):

Original A6s CD-player/Sonos connect
Audiolab M-DAC
NuForce Ref9 V2 SE (copper) into...
Mark & Daniel Aragorn+ (including bass extender stands and omni-harmonizer tweeter)  :green:

Vanilla cables throughout, nothing fancy. More 'high-end' the more downstream you get. NuForce and Mark & Daniel are a great match IMHO, few other amps can control those low-efficiency, low-impedance beasts.
