Apparently some of the early cords have been melting down/catching fire! :o

Mine deck is certainly old enough to be one of the effected. Guess I'll be filling out the form to get a non-flamable replacement sent to me... :shake:

I had to sell my original Xbox because it's DVD player stopped working- the dreaded Thomson drive.  I replaced it with a newer Xbox last year, so hopefully I'm OK with the power cord.

I've been wanting to upgrade my power cord anyway to improve audio/video qualities . Any recommendations ?

The AudioQuest NRG-1 or NRG-1.5 would be nice. I forget exactly who else makes a cord that would fit, but I want to say PS Audio makes one.

Finally got off my ass and ordered the replacement cord.

Wonder how long it'll take to get here?...

I'll have to check my Xbox over, too.  It's several years old, so maybe it's got one of the cords o' fire. :o

:o  The replacement cord showed up today! Damn that was fast.

Kinda looks like a GFCI has been built into the power cord. Wonder what design problem the Xbox has to require that type of cord?...

did you guys read about the real story behind the cord?

the actual fault is within the xbox where the socket joins the motherboard - dry joints

so instead of recalling xboxes which would be expensive they just put out a power cord that has a breaker of some sort in it.  so that fires dont start.

newer xboxes have a different power supply and dont suffer from the problem.
