"And Tape It"

Let's have some fun. Let's build cardboard box style speakers. Use whatever drivers you have access to. Car audio speakers and woofers. Home audio drivers and woofers. Pro audio drivers and woofers. High-end. Low-end. Crossover. No crossover. High-pass. Low-pass. Band-pass. Full-range. Insulation. No insulation. Input terminals. No input terminals. Sealed. Ported. Whatever you feel like.

Rules:
1. Cardboard or similar disposable material. No wood (not even as support nor reinforcement).
2. At least one driver (full-range, tweeter, horn, midrange, mid-bass, woofer,  or subwoofer.
3. Wired and functional.
4. Show photos.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Use full range or coaxial pro drivers.
What are the Litrage you can get with this enclosure?

It's not about quality. It is about functionality.

Got a box. It is "plastic" cardboard. It is 21 inch x 14 inch x 12 inch interior. It is 2.0417 ft³ in volume. I will use some "eggshell" foam to put inside the box.

I got drivers. 8 inch Vifa woofer and a peerless tweeter.

I dug up some scrap wire.

This is about to become a "Roadkill" approach to audio: good speakers and crappy enclosure (performance engine and crappy car).

I'm so looking forward to how this turns out. Cheeky shenanigans approach to audio. And as to WHY you would do it is because it's fun.

This whole thread is for anybody to join in and build a "box" speaker., not just me. Like I said, it doesn't matter what drivers you use, or for what purpose. It's the fun of it.

To me, it seems like such a waste to use Vifa and Peerless drivers in such a weak resonant enclosure.

They did not work well. The same driver in Frugel-Horn Lite kicks butt.

I was just expecting square-ish boxes, but you made angles and stuff.

A Metronome with a rare TB prototype driver.

This looks like FUN! I hope I can try something similar later this summer when I <hopefully> have some free time.

Change of plans: I am using an AudioSource ceiling speaker assembly. I cut a hole in the box, and mounted the speaker. When you put the box on its side, it kinda looks looks like a single driver mini floor standing speaker.
