Title: Can The Off Ramp Work With Linux
Post by: bhobba on 25 Jul 2014, 02:35 am
Hi Guys

My Mac Mini decided to pack it in - drats.

Anyway I know a guy that builds computers specifically designed for Audio, but its based on Daphile that uses Linux.  He said you can load Windows on it but prefers Linux.

The question then is pretty obvious - can the Off-Ramp work with Linux, or must Windows be loaded?

Thanks
Bill

The Off-Ramp 4 and 5 will work with the latest version of Linux.  Earlier versions of Linux need a patch that I can give you if you are savvy enough to install it.

Hi Steve

Great to hear mate.

The guy building my sever is pretty savy and I am sure between the two of you something can be sorted.

Also its great to here things are progressing with the OR6.

I particularly like the idea you are supplying it standard with your dynamo power supply.

I tried a low noise power supply a guy made for me on my Off-Ramp and was shocked the difference it made.  He had a switch that switched the earth in and out - and even the position of that switch made a difference.

Just something you might like to consider for countries here in Aus with an earthed power supply.

Thanks
Bill
