Eighth Nerve Spinal Cord is here!!

The new Spinal Cord is here.  The audition tour will start in the next few days, thanks to all of you for waiting so patiently.

If you are unimpressed with the change provided by most aftermarket power cords, you are not alone.  We at Eighth Nerve believe that most power cords on the market provide you with a perceived benefit accompanied by a string of sacrifices.  Many times, you are unable to tell which cord you prefer, as making the decision to sacrifice certain qualities is not an easily accomplished task.  We believe there are two main issues that cause this.

First, most power cords exaggerate dynamic transients and bloat bass.  Why?  Using excessive gauge conductors causes electrical overshoot when a current spike is required.  We are often fooled by this as increased dynamic impact is usually perceived as a positive change.  Unfortunately this is only true if the increase is accurate.  Any change of the signal is detrimental, especially when changed on a segment that is of high-energy.  This causes an obfuscation of the delicate harmonics and ambient information that reside in the low-energy portion of the signal.

Second, most power cords create “air” by smearing the mid-treble frequencies and rolling-off the high-treble frequencies (we don’t hear above 16KHz as much as we perceive it).  Why?  Using excessive conductor size and a lack of adequate shielding allows noise and other airborne and electrical pollution to distort the signal.  The perception of “air” is one of the most misunderstood distortions in high-end today.  Most of what we perceive as “air” is a distortion artifact, and not only obscures the delicate details and harmonic texture, but is one of the greatest contributors to listener fatigue.

Why the Eighth Nerve Spinal Cord?  With a smaller solid core conductor and 99.5% electrical shielding on EACH conductor, the Spinal Cord protects the signal from airborne EMI and protects the rest of your system from EMI generated from the cord itself.  This not only allows an accurate, full and deep bass, but an extended frequency response well above 20 KHz.  When listening to a Spinal Cord for the first time, the experience is very different than other cords.  Besides a silent background and a lack of electrical noise, you’ll notice a complete lack of exaggeration across the frequency spectrum which will cause you to turn up the volume slightly to reach your usual perceived listening level.  At this point, you’ll begin to experience harmonic texture and ambient detail that you have never heard from your system before.  You should never be impressed by the dynamic impact of your system, but instead by the dynamic impact of the MUSIC.  And after all, that is what Eighth Nerve is all about.

The power cord is a vital link in your audio system.  Everything that creates and manipulates the music signal is created from the power delivered by the power cords.  It is the first link in the system, and it is critical to get it right.

For the months of October and November, we will be offering a special on the Eighth Nerve Spinal Cords in exchange for submitting a review of how it changed your system on any major audio website or publication (i.e. AudioAsylum, Audio Circle, etc.).  The retail on the Spinal Cord is only $299 for a six foot length, but it is meant to compete with ANY POWER CORD, REGARDLESS OF PRICE.  For this promotion, you can purchase a Spinal Cord for only $199!  Dealers, give us a call, we have specials for you too!
