Room 2030: Two World Debuts!

The Wilson Audio Alexia makes its worldwide debut at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. The Alexia is the first all -new product from Wilson since the Sasha W/P. The Alexia’s form factor resembles the Sasha W/P and features a similar footprint , but its technology and per formance are more akin to Wilson’s flagship, the Alexandria XLF.

Also making its North American public debut is the dCS Vivaldi digital playback system. Vivaldi represents the pinnacle of dCS’ no compromise approach and incorporates the most substantial advancement in the proprietary Ring DAC’s 20-year history. It sets the new standard for the future of digital audio playback.

The VTL TL-7.5 Series III preamp and the latest iteration of the vaunted Siegfrieds will provide the amplification. Transparent Audio’s Opus MM audio cables, MM2 Power, and all new Reference Digital Cables connects it all together. Wilson, dCS, VTL and Transparent Audio have joined forces to bring you an unforgettable system that collectively represents the latest thinking of all of the respective companies.

They going to be giving away t-shirts:

Get there early.

If you miss the dCS Vivaldi, you can always stop by my place around Thanksgiving, I should have mine by then...

Tyson,

I am taking a page out of your book by planning my visit to RMAF ahead of time.  Thank you for the idea.

I noticed that you did not have Legacy Audio on your agenda.  Every year I read candid comments about their speakers with many saying one of the best at the show.  May I ask why you are passing on their room this year?

Didn't see Dspeaker on that list. Am suddenly interested in the Dual Core.

tf,
It's because every year they are pretty mediocre, IMO.  It's the same with the Nordost room.  If every year your room is poor, eventually we are just gonna move on.

Rclark,
I don't see it either.  Checked their website too, nothing about RMAF there either.  Looks like they are not coming.

Didn't see what would be my #1 choice: NuForce (DDA-100) and Amphion (Ion+)

But if you can, please check out:

Marriott Tower - Level 11   1102   Bud Fried
Marriott Tower - Level 10   1017   Underwood HiFi
Rocky Mountain Event Center   CANJAM   Schiit Audio

JLM,
Schiit Audio added.  The other 2 rooms are already on the list of vendors we are hitting, so no need to re-add them.

Are there any rooms with speakers from Magico, Harbeth or Tannoy?
Didn't see these manufacturers listed.

That's too bad. Rodge827 has one and loves it. Battery powered, does everything apparently very well, I'm heavily leaning towards taking the plunge on one next month.

Anyway, RMAF. Looking forward to your brutally honest reviews with PEZ.

Yes, brutal honesty is our policy :)  Last year was the best RMAF ever, IMO, so this year has quite a bit to live up to!

The Dual Core 2.0 will be at RMAF.  :thumb:
I had a conversation with Tim Ryan of Simplifi Audio (Dspeaker US Dist.) yesterday, and he will be there.
He wasn't able to procure a room, all sold out, but does have a vendor (dunno which one) using the Dual Core and is hoping to convince a few others to try it out.
Tim isn't trying to come through the back door on this one, he has been to a lot of shows recently (Toronto, Munich,CEDIA, etc.) and RMAF was off his radar :green:.
Look for a dark haired Irishman with a Dual Core under his arm, he will talk your ears off about it  :D.

Wow, that is some agenda you have!  Good luck getting to all of them.  I look forward to your thoughts and pics on the JM Reynaud room, Marriott 5th Floor 561.  I'd also like to see you hit Sonist, Marriott 5th 549, or Volti, Marriott 5th Floor 590.

Since you will be visiting the Salk/Van Alstine room it will be interesting to get your impressions of Frank's Fet Valve and Synergy amps if by chance they are hooked up to their new ABX switchbox and the remote control button.

Now if only you could sneak in a Hypex NCore for comparison.....

Look for the new IFI equipment in the Avatar Acoustics room. That new stuff should be great for the Cheap and Cheerful crowd.

They will be showing 5-6 new items for less than $500 each.

Tyson, thanks again for your heroic effort.

Since you and Pez are going to brutally honest and state how you hear each room sounds, can you share your sonic preferences and biases?

Rocket_Everyone has a bias except me  :o  :lol:_Ronny

Sure.  I tend to like:

Paper based drivers/speakers
3 way speakers over 2 way speakers over single driver speakers
Tubes over SS over digital amps
Tonality and dynamics over soundstage and imaging
HiRez digital over vinyl over standard rez

That's all I can think of for now.  If I think of more I'll list them.  These are all generalities, because at the end of the day a good sounding room sounds good, and whether it uses tubes, SS, tower speakers, OB, vinyl, hirez, is less important than overall system synergy.
