Title: Front or rear corner location for Soffit Bass traps?
Post by: slefley on 27 Jan 2022, 07:07 pm
Aesthetically I'd prefer to locate these in the rear corners of my listening room rather than the front as I see most others doing.  Will they work as well in the rear corners as they do in the front?  I listen to my monitor speakers in the near-field which places them about equal distance from the front and rear corners.

They will definitely work in the rear corners too. it's possible not quite as well as in the front corners, but I've seen traps work better in the rear corners too depending on the room shape/setup.

Performance is more about total coverage area (total surface area of all bass traps, relative to room size) than where each trap is placed -- which is not to say we can't optimize things with good placements when starting with a few panels.
