Madrigal Proceed AMP5- help?
« on: 20 Aug 2022, 05:18 pm »
As the subject heading states, I have a Madrigal Proceed Amp5.. currently an Amp4 as the center channel is at my techs, 3 hours away by gas sucking chariot.

He got it running but was still having trouble with the center channel so I left it there, so I could use the Amp4 for biamping, in conjunction with some tube monos on the top end.

A year later it's still running but I'm headed back, to drop it off for reconciliation with the center channel and an update to some of the powerline doodads. < < obviously I'm highly technical.

It's 125w, Class A Levinson and sounds as it should but I'm concerned that without a spec, he'll have to put more time($) into it than I/ we would like to and have to do some amount of guess work.

Has anyone here worked on these amps?  It's different from the Amp2 and 3 from the same group but assumptively similar, with 3 discreet power sections..  I'm moving back to passive speaker solutions and just want to get it running, then possibly bridge the 2 sections to get 250w and leave the center as I just 2Chan and don't sub woofs- ever.

The only public option would be to send it to a JBL/ licensed repair facility but not only would the weight of the unit, 100lbs plus, the size of the unit, 20x20 at least but the unknown cost to repair would probably eclipse what I paid for it or could ever get out of it.

i like the amp .. but not that much.. also considering some higher db speakers, which would make this amp less useful.

Many moons ago, I owned the Proceed HPA amps on the front three channels and the BPAs on the rears.   There are some threads out there on where to send things - e.g.

Hifiengine has the schematics for the Amp2 and Amp3 so that you can download it and see if you can find a repair tech who can get the parts.
