What do Salk Veracity Speakers Sound Like?
« on: 17 Aug 2010, 01:45 am »
Hello,

I've had a chance to audition Paradigm Signature and Wilson Sophia speakers so far. The Digms were actually dissapointing to me while the Wilsons were a very fun set of speakers (outside of my budget anyway).

I'm trying to find other speakers to listen to. What do the ht2s or ht3s sound like in comparison to these?  How about the new Sound Scape Line?

Thanks
Chris

Send Jim an e-mail and he may be able to tell you if there is anyone in your area that have Salk's to listen to.

If you are planning on spending that much you should try to find an owner anywhere nearby, unless you are over seas.  All the speakers sound good but they aren't everyone's cup of tea.  Have an audition it is really the only way to know for sure.

This fellow came over from AVS.  We can definitely hook you up with someone nearby or espouse the characteristics of each type you have interest in.

What is your price range as the Sound Scapes are considerably more than the HT2's?

Salk speakers sound like music in your listening room, rather than speakers trying to reproduce music in your listening room.

Thanks for responses!

I will try my best to explain the characteristics I am looking for in a speaker.  The Wilson Sophias caught my ear because they were so engaging and detailed, but never clinical.  The Paradigm Sigs were relatively boring sounding.

I suppose I am trying to get the most involving, musical, detailed, airy, smooth speakers I can find under $15,000.

I don't know if those descriptions work together thought.

Thanks
Chris

What is your location?  For that kind of money it really is important to listen to them.  A trip to RMAF or Jims house would be a worthwhile hedge.

Chris:

I strongly recommend that you also give serious consideration to Deadalus.  I owned Paradigm S-8's and don't recommend them for the music lover.  I also audioned Wilson and enjoyed them but Deadalus takes it to a new level.

Talk to my friend, Frank for an objective and experienced perspective, or for an audition.  You won't be dissappointed:

Happy hunting,

Shameless, absolutely shameless to plug someone else's product in the dedicated Salk circle.   :green:

In my opinion the Salk's are definitely involving, musical, detailed, airy and smooth.  The ribbon tweeter is sensational and does a fantastic job of resolving all the detail without being harsh or fatiguing.  Below I have linked some reviews (sorry guys, don't have time to look all of them up; on my lunch break).  Hopefully they will help describe what Salk speakers sound like.  Happy reading!
