Hi,

The upgrade price is not set yet but about $1400 US - the faceplate will remain the same - the Digital circuit board and the a new micro-processor board gets installed.

james

James,

I hope you consider doing a promotional pricing for early upgraders.

Hi Andy,

The SP2 will be the same price as the SP1.7.

...thx James.....is there a revised vid-switcher pending as well?....say with more than 2 component inputs, and/or other video connection formats?

Hi Andy,

Yes  we are looking at adding an SPV2 to our product mix-- probably early in the new year.

that doesn't sound too good for us current sp1.7 owners, talk about knocking the value down of the sp1.7.

I think keeping the price the same is a smart move on Bryston's part.  The price of "high-end" pre-pros has continually gone up over the past 5 years with unequal improvements to match (IMO).  The fiscal value of the SP1.7 will go down with the introduction of the new model simply because it isn't the latest and greatest.  Fortunately, Bryston offers you have the ability to upgrade the product.  Factor in that 20 year warranty, and I'd say you have nothing to worry about.

This is SP1.7 to SP2?  What about a full 'point' upgrade: SP1 -> SP2?  Any price range being considered?

Hi.

Yes there will be an upgrade from the SP1 to the SP2.
The SP1 will maintain the same faceplate but the backplate will change.

There will no  longer be an upgrade from the SP1 to the SP1.7.

Price to be announced.

James, you have NO idea how happy this makes me!  I didn't want to have to run a stack of cables to my projector and now it sounds like I won't have to.   I would have gone with the original SPV1 but I needed DVI or HDMI.

I assume that your new product will be a pure switching product, and not an outboard scaler, correct?

Yes pure switching - the big issue now is HDMI - and when and where things will sort themselves out.

Cool!   Just getting up to speed and reading through all the posts on this topic from over a year now -- so how realistic is the Nov. end date and is that actual shipping of product or just an announcement?

James:

Will we be able to purchase/queue up for upgrades from the 1.7 to the 2.0 at the end of November as well?

James:

Thank you for the anticipated upgrade availability date.  Any more hints on where we can surf to for procedural details on signing up/paying for the update...and finding out the expected turnaround time for the mods?
