Lowther Club 6L6 SEP Amp “Jazz”

Hey, has anyone heard the Lowther Club’s 6L6 Amp called “Jazz”?

http://www.lowther.com.hk/Jazz%206L6%20Amp.htm

It looks pretty sweet and it uses my favorite input tubes the 6sn7 and one of my favorite output tubes the 6L6, and it’s a fairly simple circuit, a good thing IMO.  8 watts is plenty for my speakers and this looks like a great little platform for some serious tube rolling fun.

My only reservation is it has to be shipped from Hong Kong and if it sucks I’m sort of stuck with it.

On the other hand, the guy at Glow In The Dark Audio had good things to say about it and he’s had a ton of tube amps in his system - http://glowinthedarkaudio.com/lowtherclub-jazz-6l6.html

I found the 6L6 to be too lean sounding in my Musical Paradise SEP. The mids suffer, and hey, without the great tube mids you might as well have a class D amp. I much prefer the EL34.

In my Dennis Had Inspire SEP amp, 6L6GC tubes sound great.  To my ears, better than EL34 tubes.  With a nice, full. well-balanced tube sound.  KT66 sound very good too.

That’s my experience too, the 6L6/KT66 tubes sounded best in my VTA ST70 PP amp.  Since I only need a few watts and I already have a DHT SET amp, I thought I might try a SEP amp with that tube.

I need to show my buddy Rex this amp. He has been looking at a Class A China amp on Amazon for $489. That one uses EL34 tubes.

Come to my place. I have Class D with great mids. :thumb:

Too bad this Lowther use a large PCB, it will be a hot amp, for this price they would use copper hard wiring for better sound, easy service and upgrade.

Stay stick to 6L6 is a drawback or it accept EL34/KT88?
