Well, he can't be running his volume control at 5 o'clock to get any volume. If some furnace or other appliance kicked in and sent a spike, his speakers would be in his lap and his amp would be a steaming divit.

bluemike, IMHO has no choice in the matter. Or get a differrent cartridge that better matches his phono preamp's settings.

Well i'm happy to report my woofer pumping is gone  aa aa

I'm now considering other cart options that would work better with my Reg arm

Any ideas in the 200-400 range

Glad you've got things under control. If you want a $200 dollar cartridge, buy an Audio Technica AT440MLa from Music Direct. If you want a $100 dollar cartridge buy an Audio Technics AT440MLa from LPGEAR. Or, if you want to spend $129 on another really great cartridge, go to J and R music world and get an Audio Technica AT440MLa.

It's just plain old ghetto slang, that's all I'm sayin'. YKWIM?

I see you like AT Carts  how does this cart differ in sound from the Denon Carts

Have you heard a Denon 110 before ?

No I haven't Mike. I just don't want to spend that kind of doe. I just think its a worthwile cartridge and could save you 100-300 bucks. I have it in 4 of my tables and it performs very well.

The output of the AT is (I think) 4.5mv, and would run great on your MM setting.

MIke,

A cart suggestion....

Dynavector 10x5.

$395 at Music Direct.  2.5mv output will sound beautiful on MM.  I have one for a second system and believe it is a tremendous value.  Once you wear it out (and you will), a new one I think is half priced with the body trade-in.

It will sound great on a Rega arm and is a cart that you can upgrade around for quite some time.

Have fun.

Thanks for your suggestions
Would a counterweight improve the sound quality i'm hearing on the Denon 110
make it a better match
If I was looking at a Dynavector 10x5 would the added weight help ?
