Effect of Humidity
« on: 16 Jun 2010, 04:24 pm »
I have a Bryston 3b sst , manufactured in 2008. Due to rains the air is quite humid (humidity>70%). Room is non air conditioned . When I try to put on the amp , initially
there is no effect on LEDs. Then after some time only red LEds will
blink momentarily and again be "off". When some hot air from hair dryer is put on the body from side for 10 mts , after quite a
efforts the amp will turn on.The power is fine with proper voltage.
Will the moist air cause bryston protection circuit on and amp will not
be turned on?.My older Bryston was nt having this problem except at very
few occasions.
Please let me know whether humid air(humidity >70% ) will not allow the
Bryston to turn on.The amp when tested elsewhere was working.
What is the phenomenon?
James , with what srl no in 3bsst the squared version feature has started to come .

For Bryston engineers information:  in Brazil the air humidity is over 70% all the year(50-60% is rare, just afew years have some days this dry air), in winter reach 90%(even with no rain) for weeks.
Today is rainy, 18ºC, 80% humidity(indoor, my room), no easy life for a electronic equip here.
