SP3 firmware 2014.03f?
« on: 26 Apr 2014, 12:12 am »
Just noticed a new firmware on the Bryston FTP site. No release notes relating to this version - does anyone know what it changes?

Thanks, James. This release seems to be primarily focussed on bug fixes and a few minor changes - might give this one a miss.

Do you publish a roadmap for development on the SP3? Would be interesting to know where you plan to go and what your development priorities are, e.g. feature changes in firmware, asynchronous USB, HDMI upgrades etc.

No roadmap as such as we find that certain things come to the market before they should so we have developed a bit of a 'wait and see' attitude about all this.  3D is a good example and now DSD and HDMI 2.0 etc are something we are looking at but not rushing into.

Also we find that sometimes moving in one direction prematurely to offer a feature can create issues in current performance.  For example if you want to process DSD you do not use a sample rate converter so in the BDA DAC for instance the utilization of our sample rate converter reduces jitter substantially meaning changing the circuit path to allow for DSD would impact negatively the performance of PCM.
