Switchable Hi-Low Gain 11A Line Preamplifier
« on: 24 Mar 2011, 02:02 am »
SAS Audio Labs is currently working on a low gain version of the reference 11A line preamplifier.

What is also unique with the B11A and Standard 11A is that it can be adjusted from neutral/accurate/natural in absolute terms to either slightly fuller or slightly leaner for those personal preferences.

The update includes lowering the gain (there is approximately 8db of gain) while retaining the accuracy/naturalness/live sound with the same famous transparency (recording studio echoes etc), dynamics, soundstage etc. The implementation of the design is truly unique, just like the higher gain 11As.

Cheers.

I was able to hear this preamp (at BFS's world headquarters) paired with Monarchy Audio SE100 Mk 2 monoblocks using an MSB dac as the source.
Tone, dynamics, harmonics, and soundstage were all very good, the system let the music through without any apparent restrictions.  :thumb:

Hi Linny,

Got it done. I decided to set it up so that the customer can run his 11A either high or low gain. So if one changes his overall system's gain, he can adjust the 11A. Extensive listening tests in system concluded no colorations of any kind.

Cheers.
