a couple of questions about a sp.1 for james
« on: 16 Jan 2004, 03:54 pm »
when there's no sound being detected by the processor there is a rythmic ticking noise that comes from the left surround channel and also when you use the mute button sound is leaked through this channel to the extent that it's easily heard.

Does anyone know if there's something starting to fail and if so would it be picked up if i got it upgraded to a sp1.7 as this is something i'm considering

Hi THX,

Engineering says they have never heard of this and I tried my SP1.7 this weekend with no problem.
I would suggest you change the software n the SP1 or maybe consider going to the SP1.7 update

Hi James

Have tried it with V19 AND 20 Software and still get the sound coming from the left surround when on mute.If i got the update would this kind of thing be picked up when you test it before shipping it back as i stay in the uk and its a long way to canada.

Hi THX,

I can not say we test for that specific issue but of the 3 - SP1.7's  I have a home none of them exhibit that problem. If you send your unit in for update please put a note instide to my attention and I will make sure we check for that issue specifically.

Hi James

Upgrade probably wont be till summer time now as i've spent all my money on speakers lately but will put note in with it when i do.
Does the upgrade  turn it into a sp1.7 as if you where buying it new ie. is it internally the same after upgrade.

many thanks
mark

Hi James

Their's been a bit of a delay with my unit , pmc didn't get back to my dealer with prices so it wont be leaving the uk for about another two weeks  :(

Hi James

My sp1 should be with PMC by thursday/friday of this week coming so not sure how long after that it takes to get to you in canada. In addition to the upgrade i've also paid for a new remote and new volume knob.Have also put in some copies of this thread for your attension to remind you to check for the ticking noise and the sound leaking on the left surround when on mute after the upgrade.

regards
mark
