Never heard the Border patrol but this guy is a gem:  https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=178566.new#new
They screwed some people in their funding campaign so they got a bad reputation as a business.
Their public relations loss is your equipment gain! (that's the way I look at it)
If they still had a good reputation, this DAC would be in the thousands.

Look at the current offering from Musical Paradise.  Search the forums and there are lots of discussions.

I run mine with Clarity silver caps and a pair of WE tubes for SE connections.

Buying the basic with ESS chips, very affordable.

You can upgrade your caps and tubes once you learn the sound of the DAC.

BTW - it is not pretty but sure does sound great.

Good luck and have fun!
