Just wondering what I could use in terms of amplification for my DYI OB speakers. They do dip to about 4.5 ohm around 60HZ, but they're between 6 and 8 ohm from 85HZ. Phase is very well behaved above 60HZ ( pretty flat between 0 and +25 degrees). My room is large (9' ceiling. 20 X 35 ft).

I'm all ears for your recommendations.

Thanks!

15W and up tubed Amp. Or integrated. What pre and front end are you using. easier to recco an Amp with that info.

Ha, I was going to say 6 watt min.

All depends on the voicing of the speakers and system, then what your sound priorities are. Almost any amp will do.

Right now I have a small 50w SS integrated. Could use it as a pre for a transitionnal period, but I'll need a pre if I go for separates. I already have a decent size stash of 6SN7's, 12AU7's and a matched quads of 6L6's, KT77's, 7581.

Look at First Watt amps. The SIT amps would be especially of interest.

It's voiced fairly flat. -3db @ 45hz. I listen to pretty much everything from jazz trio to orchestral, electronic, metal, blue grass... Everything really. So I'm looking for something that has high dynamic headroom.

Here is a very good integrated  https://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649485847-ank-el84-l1-kit/

Buy it there or the kit from ANK the el34 and El84 kits are very good. They also have a build service.

If going solid state look into the Digital Amplifier Company they have a forum here on AC and Tommy is an awesome guy to talk to about his products.

Consider the Linear Tube Audio amplifiers designed by David Berning.  Tube amplifiers that have low output impedance and will not be bothered by that impedance dip.

First Watt SIT amps are great but $4 grand, if Class D amps are welcome see Maraschino STM at $1200

I was always a tube guy, but now have the king STM and love it so much I'm moving up the line to a 2-Cherry. I'm also gonna get an LTA tube amp and swap the two. The dynamic headroom of the Digital Audio Cherry amps is great with my Spatials.
