Actually, 13 ga. ....Will get back to you regarding measurements. The bottom of the graph is 0.0001%, by the way. Thanks.
Well, measuring the low capacitance on EITHER cable will apparently require a better meter.
Regarding inductance, we plan to measure this next week, once again because the values are quite small. Theoretical inductance of the 12 gauge control sample is about 1uH. We expect to be lower, but is this what's giving us better measurements with the Speaker Snakes? We need to investigate more to "certify" that conclusion.
The bottom line is that the Speaker Snakes are flexible and much nicer to deal with than "big fat cable". The advantage on simple resistance goes to the 12 gauge control sample since we are essentially at 13 gauge. However, this amounts to a very small difference in total cross sectional area (less than 4 mils squared!).
For reference, the simple resistance over 12 feet (round trip):
12 gauge ---- 0.019Ω
13 gauge ---- 0.023Ω
Theoretical capacitance of the 12 gauge control sample is less than 40pF, not enough to be significant, and the meter reads about the same for our Speaker Snakes.
We believe Speaker Snakes are a great way to get that "just a touch better" performance out of the Maraschino Amplifier at a more reasonable cost than available alternatives.
Thanks for reading this.
