Interesting info. Thanks for the post. Reminds me I've got some VR-3's that I need to listen to again.

Hi,

Thank you for the post as I found it really interesting. I just want to clarify that you did't have to do any modifications to the crossover? So I presume that Madisound found a drop in replacement (apart from a couple of modifications to the wood work) that requires no modifications?

I've heard a lot about the VR4's but I haven't heard them personally.

Cheers Rod

I have a the VR-4's and about 6 or so years ago I sent them to VSA for upgrades. Cost was about $3,00.00
Whatever they did to them made a HUGE!!! and better sound. I'm not sure but I think that the upgrades to
      VR-4's are no longer available.
      I bought my VR-4's in 2006.
One more thing. When I got them back after the upgrades one of the base plates was broken. VSA said a
new one would cost $800.00 WHAT???? Hell I made a new one for $25.00. Still can't figure out why a new
one would cost $800.00 from VSA. It is a PUZZELEMENT!!!

                                                                   Cheers

No. The VR-4's don't look anything like the one in the picture.

Thanks Charles, damn internet mislabeling photos.
I dug a little deeper, how is your Swedish?

Lots of good photos including the crossover

I was curious what they looked like under the sock. I owned the Von Schweikert VR-2 and did a lot of low cost mods that greatly improved the sound but they all involved taming cabinet resonances. The VR-4 is very different and better built. After hearing other speakers I got tired of the warm and forgiving sound of the VR-2 and decided to go in another direction.

I would bet the VR-33's in the Trading Post would be an upgrade at an affordable price.

Log on to google.com. Enter Von schweikert VR4 generation III special edition. That will show you a picture of the speakers I have.
You will find several posts about the speakers. Good luck!!
