Don't drive yourself nuts...one of us in that state is enough  :dunno:

It's so easy for me to get to Emeryville, too, I'd like to be there one of these days.

Bump....
Come and see the Merrill Scillia MS 2 Table...the Consonance Cyber 800 Mono Blocks and well, a good time!

Big Red Machine

Can the 800's drive my Salk HT3's at 84.5 db efficiency to 95 db with 78 watts?

Can the 800's drive my Salk HT3's at 84.5 db efficiency to 95 db with 78 watts?

Big Red...
This is an interesting question...
I did some research and found this table: http://www.smr-home-theatre.org/Power/Graph_F.html
Which illustrates that for a speaker that is rated low (81db) medium (87db) to get to 95db output, you would need about 20wpc for a low rated speaker and about 10wpc on a medium rated speaker...
Based on this, it seems like the CYBER 800 would have no problems driving the HT3 at 85db at 8ohms to 95db levels...

and here's a link to a calculator:  http://www.myhometheater.homestead.com/splcalculator.html
What do you think???
Tuan

Berndt

That was fun Tuan. you have a great space and an impressive rig. The Merrill Scillia was definitely a benchmark for me, in regards to source quality.
The relevant conundrum being the phasing out of vinyl as a audio source was an interesting topic as well.
Good to meet some new faces as well. The consanance monoblocks had more grunt than I thought they would from your prior event write up.
I was very impressed with the care you have assembled your system, I really like your combination of diy cabling and frugal equipment shopping. I wish I had the nose for audio deals like you have.
Thanks for hosting another norcal event.
