Bob's Devices phono pre-amp at Capitol Audio Fest

Bob's Devices recommended a phono pre-amp to somebody at Capitol Audio Fest 2018, but I can't remember what it was.

It was $1K, has a three months build time, and is from Canada(?).

I wasn't at CAF this year, but you might email Bob's Devices and ask.

I use one of his excellent SUTs with a custom phono stage from Don Sachs that is roughly in the $1k price range.  Don operates pretty much on the US/Canada border in the Pacific north west.  I love this combo, but I did need to wait for its assembly.  Perhaps this isn't what was mentioned, but I thought I'd toss a  :thumb: Don's way.

It looks like it. It was a silver box.

The silver box is Don's basic build.  I opted for having the tubes show on top with a nice cherry case.  Either way, I love this phono stage/SUT approach.

Looks like a PH16 in a different dress.

Good eye.  Don does in fact start with the PH16 design, but upgrades a number of important items for better sound.  He is totally upfront about all that.  The value for me is I have no confidence in doing the work myself, especially the case work, nor do I have Don's extensive experience and upgrade knowledge.  His whole business is restoration and upgrades.
