How to get Winamp to play 24/96 FLAC
« on: 24 May 2010, 07:49 am »
I have been acquiring more and more recordings at 24/96 and playing through my Transporter and Bryston BDA-1 DAC without problems.  Currently on the road, and brought along my collection to play through laptop and headphones, but find that Winamp chokes on the files.  VLC doesn't seem to have any problem.

Anybody have any experience with Winamp?  I am running the latest version.

Thanks.

Not me, but I use Foobar on the Windows side of things, and it reads all sample rates fine (and even has a DVD_Audio plugin).

Thanks, haven't tried Foobar.  Used to Winamp and would like to get it to work.

Does your Winamp play 16/?? FLACs?

My Winamp plays all FLAC files including 24/whatever just fine.

I just looked for any loaded hirez specific input or output plugins in Winamp and didn't see any.

It appears that when I upgraded Winamp, the FLAC add-in dropped off.  When I reinstalled it, I could listen to hirez FLAC files.
