And how long does the deal last?

I'm moving a lot of speakers around lately, may grab a pair of these even if I don't buy the decked-out RM30s.  Sold the Gallo Ref 3s for the bedroom system and I think these would be a very good replacement.  But I might need a month or so.

By all means get the decked out RM 30C's.  I personally guarantee big thrills and intense satisfaction.

We have 80pr of the 626Jr at this price.  Should last several months.

As I told Kevin, Brian, your only competitor for me is GMA, who also makes some utterly amazing speakers.

Even if I don't buy the 30s, I'll be telling a lot of people for a long time to come just how good they are, ESPECIALLY FOR THE MONEY.  Everybody always talks about how this piece of gear is so underpriced, etc, etc, but these are truly world-class speakers at under $5K.  They are too good a secret... it needs to get out.

I heard the big GMA at RMAF two years ago and found it very nice indeed.  There are a lot of good speakers out there now, aren't there?

Sorry you couldn't hear the 30C's at Kevins.  With the OXO and the beefed-up 6.5" woofers, they have amazing clarity, naturalness and definition.

I'm listening to jonbee's pair of piano rosewood 30C's in my sound room right now, having tweaked them out yesterday.  I can't think of much to improve, if anything.

I need these like a hole in the head....goodbye money, hello 626 jr.

I've been wanting a second pair of speakers just to trade around, plus these can always be used as rear surrounds.

These will be easier to transport than 30s, meaning easier to introduce to a nice owner of a local high-end store.  Hope we can do this before I move...

Jim, you have my sympathy.

Course anyone who goes to fires for a living 28 years straight should be used to taking a risk or two.

The Bud Bailey cabinets have a piano black, high gloss finish which is a Japanese made shiny film rather than paint.  It's very convincing. Also, the sides and top are 3/4" MDF with 1" MDF front and back baffles.

Now Official, the 626R and 626 jr, can be ordered with the OXO (normally $450) but with the 22" height, so it can be used as a Speaker Pedestal.

The price for the Pedestal/OXO is $549.

For comparison, the Beautiful Skylan 4 post stands are $350 for stands only, and the Sound Anchor 4 post stands with "beard", are over $650.

These OXO/Pedestals are 22" H x 9" W x 13.5" D, which fits the 626 cabinet quite well, which is 24H x 10 1/2W x 13 1/2D.

The 626 Jr is the same size as the standard 626, 24H x 10 1/2W x 13 1/2D".  Weight is 43 pounds in the box.
This model worth much more. I think that is the best offer in the audio world.Lets celebrate with big chocolate cake ! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Not a ton of info on the site about these.

What are weight and dimensions, and the height using the OXO as stand?

Other than the OXO, is there a particular stand you recommend?

Sure is a sweet deal.

Hi Paul,

I think most of that info is in the previous posts, and I think Brian said they weigh around 43# each to ship.

Dimensions of the speaker are: 24H x 10 1/2W x 13 1/2D
Dimensions of the OXO/Pedestal: 22" H x 9" W x 13.5" D

Total Height would be 46" (plus a little blue tack between the two)

Two of the most popular stands are also mentioned above (the SKYLAN 4 poster and the Sound Anchors 4 poster with "beard")

The "beard" is a solid front, designed to channel the bass (normally lost under a speaker) down to the floor and directed more to the listener.

Please review the first two pages of this thread for more "details".

I would like to give my personal endorsement of the "bearded" stand. It definately increases bass output in the 626. I have fashioned my own and without measuring I would guess at least a 4db increase. The bass response of the 626 is a nice surprise, certainly more than I expected when I purchased them!

Any chance of getting some pics of the OXO stands?

The first time I heard the 626R's the bass shocked me. I had no idea a woofer that size could put out bass like that.

Hi Paul,

It is the finish of the center (black) cabinet and the size of the far cabinet.

It is basically just a box.  Brian then installs the crossover, wiring, and L-pads in the rear.

John,

Nice!  Decoupled from the speakers with some IsoNodes or similar, these look like they would make fine stands.  What a cool idea - put the crossovers in the stand.

I highly recommend the combo oxo/stands.  The best steel stands I know of are $450 msrp, so adding a bit more for nice, rigid mdf stands, which include the beard funciton & the oxo, is an unbeatable deal IMO.  I had 30s before/after oxo.  The oxo made a huge audible improvement, & the x's & o's are just in time for the '9ers to make a wild car spot!

Johh/Brian: Could the stands be sand filled?  That's wut ahm tawkin' bowt!

The oxo has many benefits, not the least of which is being able to easily access the L-pads for cleaning/treating the contacts every 6-9 months.  Very easy for future xo upgrades/mods, even experimenting w/ active xo's later all the way up to full digital eq & triamping.

John/Brian: Read at the top how many times this tread was read.  Brian you must really want to work a lot before THE Show & during the holidays.

Some prefer floorstanders over standmounts because the former can have the same footprint size w/ the potential for more/deeper bass.  But floorstanders also have more potential for cabinet resonance, & would still require another enclosure for an oxo.  The bass quality & quantity w/ the single 6.5" MW is exceptional.  It was designed as a true woofer because it's x'd very low (260 Hz) in a 3-way.  In standmounts, 6.5s are usually x'd way up around 2.5 kHz.  It is difficult & expensive, if not impossible, to make a 6.5" perform well from 40 Hz through 2.5 kHz.

I spoke with Brian earlier about this and obviously you don't want sand in the L-pads or XO, so we decided that all you need do is use "sand bags".

The rear of the stand (actually the baffle) is removable with a few screws.

You can lay the speaker down and place the bags inside, then secure the baffle again, tilt the speaker up and you have it all.

You could also use bags of bird shot from a sporting goods store. Lead is pretty heavy too.
