Title: Crossover Mod Results
Post by: Texbychoice on 14 Sep 2020, 02:47 pm
After several months of experimenting with crossover mods, finished - Maybe.  High quality caps, resistors, and air core inductors.  Also swapped in a GR Research M165 driver.  Very pleased with the sound quality.  Clean, detailed, and smooth to my ears.  Did a near field measurement in my listening room with UMIK-1 and REW software.
Mic at 0.5m, 5mS window, 1/6 octave smoothing, no EQ.  Think have reached the point of diminishing returns?  Close enough to smooth out with EQ? Thoughts?

What replacement do you think had the most positive effect on the sound quality? Did f.ex. changing to the air core inductors improve things?

I'm confused. Did you measure this in a box?  The M165 is a versatile driver, but how you measured it will make a huge difference.
