Home alarm systems
« on: 5 Nov 2011, 06:09 pm »
I have a home alarm system (not company monitored) and I have 3 battery powered wireless door sensors on my garage service entry doors and I have 2 questions;
I had 1 disconnected because the sensor went bad, I have a new sensor now, any idea how to program it back into the system?
I have new lithium batteries for the other 2 sensors, can I just remove the old batteries and replace or will I have to re-program them into the system?
Any help will be much appreciated!

Since there are literally thousands of different wireless alarm systems available, the procedure would be different among them.

The sensor ID is either registered with the control unit or the ID set at the sensor perhaps with some DIP switches.  Battery operated sensors need to have their batteries replaced on a regular interval (whatever that length of time may be), so it is hard to imagine that replacing batteries on an existing sensor would require any further action on your part.
